Welcome! You’re among friends at Pine Grove Community Church. We’re the young and old, the experienced Christians, the brand new Christians, and those just curious about Jesus Christ. We’re families, singles, students, kids and couples. Wherever you’ve come from, and wherever you’re at, you’re welcome to come as you are to Pine Grove! Please stay for a cup of coffee or lemonade following worship.

 

Guests are invited to fill out a pew card and drop it in the offering plate or at the Welcome Center in the lobby when you stop for an information packet. If you are a regular attendee of Pine Grove we would like to provide you with a mailbox and / or a name tag. Please submit your request to the church office.       God bless you and your family.

 

Nursery care is offered during the a.m. service in the Church Basement for infants and toddlers through age 2. Please honor the age limit. Please meet your children at the nursery area immediately following worship.

 

Children age 3 to 6 are encouraged to participate with Children’s Worship. Children are dismissed after the Children’s Message, and can go downstairs to worship. Please honor the age limit. Parents: Please meet your children downstairs, after worship.

Pine Grove expresses condolences to Ken, Jan and Brenda Plakmeyer regarding the death of Ken’s brother, John Plakmeyer. We pray for peace and comfort for that entire family.

 

Pine Grove expresses condolences to Guy & Diana White, Karyn & Bill Staffen and their extended families regarding the death of Guy’s grandmother and Karyn’s great-grandmother, Anna Whittall. Anna lived to be 100 years old.

 

Carolyn Molnar’s granddaughter is pregnant and due in July. She will marry the father, Jason, in MayIn a recent ultrasound they learned it is a girl, whom they will name Annicka Kay, who was developing normally in every way, except they were unable to get a clear image of the lips. The doctor just informed them that Annicka may have a cleft lip. They are not certain. Please pray that she will be born without this defect, and that Jessica and Jason will have strength and courage as they wait.

The Baker-Pasma Family Singers will be presenting an afternoon concert of song and music this afternoon at 3:00 pm at the Grant Fine Arts Center, sponsored by the Grant Reformed Church. Come join us for this uplifting afternoon of praise. The Grant Fine Arts Center is located at 331 East State Street, 3 blocks east of the stop light in Grant. A free will offering will be taken.

 

The Metropolitan Choir of Praise, directed by Dr. Mark Taylor, will participate in a special area-wide worship service at the Blythefield Christian Reformed Church, 6350 Kuttshill Drive NE, Rockford, on Sunday evening, March 15, at 6:00 p.m. The worship hour will include a meditation based on Psalm 18 entitled, “A Psalm Suited for Our Evening.” Nursery will be available and a fellowship hour with refreshments will follow the service. Everyone in invited to attend.

 

Youth Ministry Seminar: Are you involved in or concerned about the effectiveness of youth ministry in our church? Classis Grand Rapids North is sponsoring a seminar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 at Mayfair CRC, to encourage and assist the churches in their youth ministry. Professor Darwin Glassford of Calvin seminary will lead a discussion on understanding youth culture, which is similar to looking through a kaleidoscope because youth culture is always changing. Understanding the cultural context and lives of young people is challenging on several levels. We must strive to address these challenges in a constructive manner. Elders, youth leaders, and parents are especially encouraged to attend this free seminar. Please RSVP to Pastor Steve to assure sufficient materials are prepared.

 

Cross Roads meets this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. for Bible Study.

 

A Defibrillator has been purchased for the church with the donations received earlier and is now ready for use. We are looking for volunteers to be trained in how to use it and to operate it when needed; the cost of the training will be paid by the church. If you would like to be one of the volunteers or would like to know more about it, you are encouraged to contact Pastor Bill or the Church Office.

Ladies - Last chance to sign up for the Women's Retreat at The Shack (May 1 & 2) is March 15.   Payment of  $55.00 is now due. Please pay at the Welcome Center.

 

All members and regular attendees are invited to participate in a service project at Moments with the Master in Gray, Kentucky from July 11-18. The group will be doing minor maintenance, some grounds work, possibly a little office work, but the main project we will do is putting a porch across their mess hall. There will be one day away, probably Thursday, and any cost incurred that day will be the responsibility of the participant. Options include shopping, the Cumberland Gap, Cumberland Falls, or white water rafting. Other participant costs will be $100 to pay for materials at the work site, around $30 for food since we will be making our own meals, and transportation to get there and backWe will help arrange car-pooling for those going. 14 women and 8 men have signed up, so there is room for another 8 women and 14 men. There are two different 22 cot dorms, men in one women in the otherMust be 13 years old, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent. Registration deadline is today. A trip to Louisville, KY is being planned to attend a portion of the National Gospel Quartet Convention. Date of the trip is Sept. 18-20. The trip includes: 3 days & 2 nights, Round Trip Transportation in a Deluxe Motor Coach, Tickets to over 25 musical shows and over 500 exhibits, Hotel accommodations w/ Deluxe Continental Breakfast included (Bay Mont Properties, very nice), a Sunday morning Worship service at a Local Church and Dinner on the way home. Transportation to & from Convention Center provided throughout the trip. The Cost of the trip is: $349.00 per person (1 bed-Queen or King); $359.00 per person (2 double beds) A sign up sheet will be in the lobby of the church for those interested. 48 spots are available so make your reservation early. Reservations require a $150.00 per person Deposit at the time you register, with the balance Due by July 15, 2009, Deadline for Registration is May 1, 2009. Prayer is the expression of a human heart in conversation with God. The more natural the prayer, the more real He becomes. Think what we could accomplish if there were more of us praying!
