Prelude
*Call to
Worship: “He Has
Made Me Glad” (Sing Twice)
I will
enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart,
I will
enter his courts with praise,
I will say
this is the day that the Lord has made,
I will
rejoice for he has made me glad.
He has
made me glad, he has made me glad,
I will
rejoice for he has made me glad.
He has
made me glad, he has made me glad,
I will
rejoice for he has made me glad.
*Welcome
*God's
Greeting and Mutual Greeting
*Song of
Praise: “Holy, Holy”
Holy, holy, holy, holy,
Holy, holy, Lord God Almighty;
And we lift
our hearts before You as a token of our love,
Holy, holy, holy,
holy.
Gracious Father, gracious Father,
We're so
blest to be Your children, gracious Father;
And we lift
our heads before You as a token of our love,
Gracious Father, gracious Father.
Precious Jesus, precious Jesus,
We're so glad
that You've redeemed us, precious Jesus;
And we lift
our hands before You as a token of our love,
Precious Jesus, precious Jesus.
Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit,
Come and fill our hearts anew, Holy
Spirit;
And we lift
our voice before You as a token of our love,
Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit.
Hallelujah, hallelujah, Hallelujah,
hallelujah;
And we lift
our hearts before You as a token of our love,
Hallelujah,
hallelujah.

Offertory Song: “My Savior's Love”
I stand
amazed in the presence Of Jesus, the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean.
Refrain:
How marvelous, how wonderful! And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous, how wonderful is my
Savior's love for me!
For me it was in
the garden He prayed, "Not My will, but Thine."
He had no
tears for His own griefs, but sweat drops of blood
for mine. Refrain
He took my sins
and my sorrows; He made them His very own.
He bore
the burden to Calvary and suffered and died alone. Refrain
When with
the ransomed in glory His face I at last shall see,
'Twill be
my joy through the ages to sing of His love for me. Refrain
Ministry
of Music: Lukas Sweers
*Song of
Preparation: “Tell Me
the Old, Old Story”
Tell me
the old, old story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
Tell me
the story simply, as to a little child;
For I am weak and weary, and helpless and defiled.
Refrain: Tell me
the old, old story;
Tell me the old, old story.
Tell me the old, old story
Of Jesus and
His love.
Tell me
the story slowly, that I may take it in-
That wonderful redemption, God's remedy for sin.
Tell me the
story often, for I forget so soon;
The early
dew of morning has passed away at noon. Refrain
Tell me the same old story
when you have cause to fear
That this world's empty glory is costing me too dear.
Tell me
the story always, if you would really be,
In any
time of trouble, a comforter to me. Refrain
Scripture: John 3:16-18; Ephesians 2:8-10
John 3:16 “For God
so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For
God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the
world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but
whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed
in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Ephesians
2:8 For it is by grace you have been
saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9
not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.
Sermon: Keeping
the Main Thing the Main Thing
Applicatory
Prayer
*Hymn
Response: “There
Is a Redeemer”
There is a
Redeemer- Jesus, God's own Son;
Precious
Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One.
Refrain: Thank
You, O my Father, for giving us Your Son,
And
leaving Your Spirit till the work on earth is done.
Jesus, my Redeemer, name
above all names;
Precious
Lamb of God, Messiah, Hope for sinners slain. Refrain
*Benediction
*Doxology: “There Is a Redeemer” (Note, Sing Acapella)
When I
stand in Glory, I will see His face;
There I'll serve my King forever in that holy place.
Refrain: Thank
You, O my Father, for giving us Your Son,
And
leaving Your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

Sale! Once again the event was a success! Thank you
for helping support this ministry for our boys and girls.
There is plenty of unclaimed cookware / bakeware in the Family Life Center. You may find what
belongs to you there. Any unclaimed wares will be donated.
HELP! A carnival is being planned for the
2009-10 GEMS / Cadets season kickoff. The date is set for Friday, September 18.
We need many volunteers to help in various ways. Please contact Dave Platt,
231-937-6062.
There have been many requests for prayer shawls and the supply is
getting low. If you knit or crochet and would like to be part of this
meaningful ministry, please make a shawl about 24 inches by 60 inches. When finished put it in the box in the church lobby.
New Associate Pastor – The Council has discussed the
need for a new person in ministry to take Pastor Steve’s place and has
appointed a committee to conduct a search for such a person. The Council is
seeking someone to continue the work Pastor Steve has been doing in youth
ministry and outreach who is gifted in these areas, either has or is pursuing
at least a Bachelor of Education or similar degree, and is available to work
half-time or more. (By being open to having someone work less than full-time
there is the possibility of employing someone who is still pursuing their
college or seminary degree but available to work half-time or more.) The
members of the Search Committee are: Ron Bailey, Gary Boone, Jerry Elenbaas (Chairman), Shelly Kamp,
Bob Pierce, Beth Syperda, Chris VanderWerf,
and Justine Wells, and although they have already held two meetings, it is
probably not likely that a replacement can be found in time to begin the new
youth ministry season in September. In view of this, Linda Bonnier and Paul
Brock, who have been serving as assistant leaders with Pastor Steve in the
Senior High Youth Group, have agreed to serve as interim leaders of that group.
Justine Wells, our Youth Ministry Intern, will continue her internship with the
Crossroads group, and the Council is working with her and others to prepare for
the up-coming season. You are asked to remember these people in your prayers on
a regular basis. Please pray that they will be led by the Holy Spirit as they
prepare for the up-coming season and that the Search Committee will be led to
the correct person to fill this very important position in the ministry of Pine
Grove Church.
Pictorial Directory – There are packets of four new pages of new members
and friends in the mailboxes in the church lobby for those who have a mailbox, and at the Welcome Tent for those who have a
directory but no mailbox. Also, there are packets of
new pages at the Welcome Tent for those who have a directory but haven’t
received the new pages distributed last September through May.
The next Pine Needles meeting is
scheduled for Monday, August 20th at 10 a.m. Some ladies
are learning to make the small zippered bags for inside their tote bags. If you’re interested, ask Lola or Judi what to bring for the
class. Some will be working on projects they want finish up, knitting, or
crocheting. Bring a brown bag lunch and join in for the fellowship.
It is not too early to sign up for the Alpha class starting September
17. Stop by the welcome center for information. For those who have
completed the class, think about those you would like to invite. We are
offering it in the evening so people from the community can
attend. Nothing is more effective than a personal
invitation. Everyone is welcome at the first dinner so you can attend with
your guest. The Alpha Class has been a blessing to many who attend Pine
Grove.
