GREETING NEW MEMBERS
1. Do you

love and trust him as the one who saves you from your sin, and do you with
repentance and joy embrace him as Lord of your life?
Answer: I do.
2. Do you
believe that the Bible is the Word of God, revealing Christ and his redemption,
and that the confessions of this church faithfully reflect this revelation?
Answer: I do.
3. Do you accept the
gracious promises of God sealed to you in your baptism and do you affirm
your union with Christ and his church which your
baptism signifies?
Answer: I do.
4. Do you
promise to do all you can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen your
love and commitment to Christ by sharing faithfully in the life of the church, honoring and submitting to its authority; and do you join
with the people of God in doing the work of the Lord everywhere?
Answer: I do.
Do you, the people of the Lord, promise
to receive Keith and Eva, David and Regina, and Stacy into your fellowship as
members of the body of Christ, and do you promise to encourage them in the
Christian faith and help them in doing the work of the Lord?
Congregation: We do, God helping us.
The Reception
Minister: Keith
and Eva, David and Regina, and Stacy, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I
now welcome you to all the privileges of full communion. I welcome you to full
participation in the life of the church. I welcome you to its responsibilities,
its joys, and its sufferings. "May the God of peace, who through the blood
of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great
Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and
may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen"(Heb.
13:20-21).
Congregation: Thanks be to
God! We promise you our love, encouragement, and prayers.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Stacy, since you have presented Alyssa and Hannah for holy
baptism, you are asked to answer the following questions before God and his
people:
First, do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord
and Savior, accept the promises of God, and affirm the truth of the Christian faith which is proclaimed in the Bible and confessed in this
church of Christ?
Second, do you believe that Alyssa and Hannah,
though sinful by nature, are received by God in Christ as members of his
covenant, and therefore ought to be baptized?
Third, do you promise, in reliance on the Holy
Spirit and with the help of the Christian community, to do all in your power to
instruct Alyssa and Hannah in the Christian faith and to lead them by your
example to be Christ's disciples?
Response: I do, God helping me.
Do you,
the people of the Lord, promise to receive Alyssa and Hannah in love, pray for
them, help instruct them in the faith, and encourage and sustain them in the
fellowship of believers?
Response: We do, God helping us.

INVITATION
TO THE LORD’S SUPPER
“Do
this in remembrance of me,” says Jesus as he invites us to his holy supper
today. It is not only a privilege, but also a
personal responsibility, to respond to this gracious invitation. The apostle Paul alerts all of us to this
responsibility in I Corinthians 11:27, “Therefore, whoever eats the bread or
drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning
against the body and blood of the Lord.”
In the light
of this scripture teaching, we invite you, member and
guest alike, to join in the communion celebration on the basis of the following
personal affirmations:
· I am genuinely sorry for my sins;
· I renew my confession of Jesus Christ
as Savior and Lord who forgives all my sins through faith in his sacrifice on
the cross;
· I declare a sincere desire to pattern
my life after the model of Christ;
· I testify that I have made a public profession
of my personal commitment to Jesus Christ within a Christian church.
We are
thankful for the privilege of joining together at the
Lord’s Table as the Holy Spirit directs our celebration. To God be
praise and glory.
Beginning next week all children age 3-7 are invited to join Children’s Worship which takes place during the church service. Please
honor the age limit. Parents:
please bring your children to the Children’s Worship room in the church
basement prior to the service, and pick them up at the same location after the
service. Please enter through
the lower level of the church building.
