WORSHIP SERVICE

June 27, 2010 - 10:00 a.m.

   Instrumental Prelude

   Welcome

 Call to Worship:  “What a Mighty God We Serve” (3x)

What a mighty God we serve,

What a mighty God we serve;

Angels bow before Him,

Heaven and earth adore Him;

What a mighty God we serve.

 God's Greeting and Mutual Greeting

   Songs of Praise:  “O to Be like Thee!”

O to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer,

This is my constant longing and prayer.

Gladly I'll forfeit all of earth's treasures,

Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Refrain: O to be like Thee! O to be like Thee,

              Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!

              Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;

              Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

O to be like Thee! full of compassion,

Loving, forgiving, tender and kind;

Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,

Seeking the wandering sinner to find.  Refrain

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,

Pour out Thy Spirit; fill with Thy love.

Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling;

Fit me for life and heaven above.  Refrain

   “Freely, Freely”

God forgave my sin in Jesus' name;

I've been born again in Jesus' name;

And in Jesus' name I come to you

To share His love as He told me to.

Refrain: He said, "Freely, freely you have received;

              Freely, freely give.

              Go in My name and because you believe,

              Others will know that I live."

All power is giv'n in Jesus' name,

In earth and heaven in Jesus' name;

And in Jesus' name I come to you

To share His power as He told me to.  Refrain

   Ministry of Music:  Melody Huseby In The Garden Medley

   Prayer Concerns

        Congregational Prayer

   Offering

   Offertory Song:  “Make Me a Blessing”

Out in the highways and byways of life,

Many are weary and sad.

Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,

Making the sorrowing glad.

Refrain: Make me a blessing; make me a blessing.

              Out of my life may Jesus shine.

              Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray.

              Make me a blessing to someone today.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love;

Tell of His power to forgive.

Others will trust Him if only you prove

True every moment you live.  Refrain

Give as 'twas given to you in your need;

Love as the Master loved you.

Be to the helpless a helper indeed;

Unto your mission be true.  Refrain

   Ministry of Music:  Melody Huseby “In His Presence”

 Song of Preparation:  “Lord, Speak to Me”

Lord, speak to me, that I may speak

In living echoes of Thy tone;

As Thou hast sought, so let me seek

Thine erring children lost and lone.

O teach me, Lord, that I may teach

The precious things Thou dost impart;

And wing my words that they may reach

The hidden depths of many a heart.

O fill me with Thy fullness, Lord,

Until my very heart o'erflow

In kindling thought and glowing word,

Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.

O use me, Lord, use even me,

Just as Thou wilt, and when, and where,

Until Thy blessed face I see-

Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share.

   Scripture:  Luke 10:25-37

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to [justify] himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I [return], I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think [was] a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

   Sermon:  “Who Is Our Neighbor?”

   Applicatory Prayer

 Hymn Response:  “I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go”

It may not be on the mountain's height

Or over the stormy sea;

It may not be at the battle's front

My Lord will have need of me.

But if by a still, small voice He calls

To paths that I do not know,

I'll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in Thine,

"I'll go where You want me to go."

Refrain:    I'll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,

               Over mountain, or plain, or sea.

               I'll say what You want me to say, dear Lord.

               I'll be what You want me to be.

Perhaps today there are loving words

Which Jesus would have me speak;

There may be now, in the paths of sin,

Some wanderer whom I should seek.

O Savior, if Thou wilt be my Guide,

Though dark and rugged the way,

My voice shall echo the message sweet.

I'll say what You want me to say.  Refrain

 Benediction

* Doxology:  “I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go”

There's surely somewhere a lowly place

In earth's harvest fields so wide

Where I may labor through life's short day

For Jesus, the Crucified.

So, trusting my all to Thy tender care,

And knowing Thou lovest me,

I'll do Thy will with a heart sincere.

I'll be what You want me to be.

Refrain:    I'll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,

               Over mountain, or plain, or sea.

               I'll say what You want me to say, dear Lord.

               I'll be what You want me to be.

   Postlude

*If you are able, please stand
