WORSHIP SERVICE – July 4, 2010 - 10:00 a.m.

   Instrumental Prelude

   Welcome

*  Call to Worship:  “If My People's Hearts Are Humbled”

If My people's hearts are humbled,

If they pray and seek My face;

If they turn away from evil

I will not withhold My grace.

I will hear their prayers from heaven;

I will pardon every sin.

If My people's hearts are humbled,

I will surely heal their land.

Then My eyes will see their sorrow,

Then My ears will hear their plea.

If My people's hearts are humbled

I will set their nation free.

If My people's hearts are humbled,

If they pray and seek My face;

If they turn away from evil

I will not withhold My grace.

*  Opening Prayer and Mutual Greeting

   Songs of Praise:  “America, Our Heritage”

High towering mountains, fields gold with grain,

Rich, fertile farmlands, flocks on the plain,

Homes blest with peace, with love, without fears:

This is the heritage we’ve kept through the years.

Wide rolling prairies, lakes deep and broad,

Canyons majestic, fashioned by God,

Life lived in peace, contented and free:

This is the heritage forever to be.

Stout hearts and true, hold fast what is ours,

God give us courage through darkest hours,

God give us strength and guide with thy hand

America, our heritage, our homeland.

“God of Our Fathers”

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand

Leads forth in beauty all the starry band

Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies,

Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past,

In this free land by Thee our lot is cast;

Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay,

Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way.

Lead us from night to never ending day;

Fill all our lives with love and grace divine;

And glory, laud and praise be ever Thine!

   Ministry of Music:  “There She Stands”.................................................................... Greg Hewitt

   Prayer Concerns

       Congregational Prayer

   Offering and Offertory Song:  “Eternal Father, Strong to Save”

Eternal Father, strong to save,

Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,

Who bids the mighty ocean deep-

Its own appointed limits keep:

O hear us when we cry to Thee

For those in peril on the sea.

O Christ, the Lord of hill and plain

O'er which our traffic runs amain

By mountain pass or valley low;

Wherever, Lord, our brethren go,

Protect them by Thy guarding hand

From every peril on the land.

O Spirit, whom the Father sent

To spread abroad the firmament;

O Wind of heaven, by Thy might

Save all who dare the eagle's flight;

And keep them by Thy watchful care

From every peril in the air.

O Trinity of love and power,

Our brethren shield in danger's hour;

From rock and tempest, fire and foe,

Protect them wheresoe'er they go;

Thus evermore shall rise to Thee

Glad praise from air and land and sea.

   Ministry of Music:  “I Will Rise”         Greg Hewitt

* Song of Preparation:  “Be Thou My Vision”

            Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;

            Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art-

            Thou my best thought, by day or by night,

            Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

            Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word;

            I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;

            Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,

            Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

            Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,

            Thou mine inheritance, now and always;

            Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,

            High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art.

            High King of heaven, my victory won,

            May I reach heaven's joys, bright heaven's Sun!

            Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,

            Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Scripture:  Daniel 1:1-8

            1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon           came to Jerusalem and besieged it.

            2 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles      from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia and put in            the treasure house of his god.

            3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites      from the royal family and the nobility—

            4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of

              learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He          was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.

            5 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to        be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.

            6 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.

            7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah,               Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

            8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief      official for permission not to defile himself this way.

   Sermon:  “America’s Hope”

   Applicatory Prayer

* Hymn of Response:  “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”

            My country, 'tis of thee,

            Sweet land of liberty,

            Of thee I sing:

            Land where my fathers died,

            Land of the pilgrims' pride,

            From every mountainside

            Let freedom ring!

            My native country, thee,

            Land of the noble free,

            Thy name I love:

            I love thy rocks and rills,

            Thy woods and templed hills;

            My heart with rapture thrills

            Like that above.

            Let music swell the breeze

            And ring from all the trees

            Sweet freedom's song:

            Let mortal tongues awake,

            Let all that breathe partake;

            Let rocks their silence break,

            The sound prolong.

*  Benediction

*  Doxology “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”

            Our fathers' God, to Thee,

            Author of liberty,

            To Thee we sing:

            Long may our land be bright

            With freedom's holy light;

            Protect us by Thy might,

            Great God, our King!

            Postlude

*If you are able, please stand
