*  Welcome

*  Opening Prayer and Mutual Greeting

*  Songs of Praise:   “As the Deer”

As the deer panteth for the water

So my soul longeth after Thee

You alone are my heart's desire

And I long to worship Thee.

Refrain: You alone are my strength, my shield

              To You alone may my spirit yield

              You alone are my heart's desire

              And I long to worship Thee.

You're my friend and You are my brother

Even though You are a King

I love you more than any other

I want You more than gold or silver,

only You can satisfy.

You alone are the real joy giver

and the apple of my eye Refrain

   “Let Us Break Bread Together”

Let us break bread together on our knees;

Let us break bread together on our knees;

When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,

Let us drink the cup together on our knees;

Let us drink the cup together on our knees;

When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,

O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us praise God together on our knees;

Let us praise God together on our knees;

When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,

   Prayer Concerns

       Congregational Prayer

    Offering  for Pine Grove Ministries

    Offertory Song and Song of Preparation:  “O to Be like Thee!”

O to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer,

This is my constant longing and prayer.

Gladly I'll forfeit all of earth's treasures,

Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Refrain:  O to be like Thee! O to be like Thee,

              Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!

              Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;

              Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

O to be like Thee! full of compassion,

Loving, forgiving, tender and kind;

Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,

Seeking the wandering sinner to find Refrain

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,

Pour out Thy Spirit; fill with Thy love.

Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling;

Fit me for life and heaven above Refrain

   “I Will Serve Thee”

I will serve Thee because I love Thee;

You have given life to me.

I was nothing before You found me;

You have given life to me.

Heartaches, broken pieces,

Ruined lives are why You died on Calvary.

Your touch was what I longed for;

You have given life to me.

Scripture:  John 13:1-17

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”

Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

10 Jesus answered, “A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

   Sermon:  Stooping to a Higher Level

   Applicatory Prayer

   Offering  for the Family Life Center

   Offertory Song:  “Before the Throne of God Above”

Before the throne of God above

I have a strong and perfect plea,

A great High Priest whose name is love

who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on his hands,

my name is written on his heart.

I know that while in heaven he stands,

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair

and tells me of the guilt within,

Upward I look and see him there

who made an end of all my sin.

Because the sinless Savior died,

my sinful soul is counted free.

For God the just is satisfied-

To look on him and pardon me.

To look on him and pardon me.

Behold him there, the risen Lamb,

my perfect spotless Righteousness,

The great, unchangeable I Am,

the King of Glory and of grace.

One with himself, I cannot die-

my soul is purchased by his blood.

My life is hid with Christ on high,

With Christ, my Savior and my God.

With Christ, my Savior and my God.

*  Doxology “ May the Lord, Mighty God”

May the Lord, Mighty God

bless you and keep you forever,

grant you peace, perfect peace;

courage in every endeavor.

Lift up your eye and behold his face –

see his grace o’er flowing.

May the Lord, Mighty God

bless you and keep you forever.

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S SUPPER

In the light of this scripture teaching, we invite you, member and guest alike, to join in the communion celebration on the basis of the following personal affirmations:

·         I renew my confession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord who forgives all my sins through faith in his sacrifice on the cross;

·         I declare a sincere desire to pattern my life after the model of Christ;

·         I testify that I have made a public profession of my personal commitment to Jesus Christ within a Christian church.
