WORSHIP SERVICE
August 16, 2009 – 10:00 a.m.
Instrumental
Prelude
*Call to Worship:
“Sweet, Sweet Spirit”
There's a sweet,
sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that
it's the Spirit of the Lord.
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they
feel the presence of the Lord.
Sweet Holy Spirit, sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay
right here with us, filling us with Your love.
And for these
blessings we lift our hearts in praise.
Without a doubt
we'll know that we have been revived
When we shall leave this
place.
*Welcome

Praise: “I
Exalt Thee”
For Thou,
O Lord, art high above all the earth;
Thou art
exalted far above all gods.
For Thou,
O Lord, art high above all the earth;
Thou art
exalted far above all gods.
I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee,
I exalt
Thee, O Lord.
I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee,
I exalt Thee, O Lord.
“Be
Exalted, O God”
I will
give thanks to Thee, O Lord, among the people.
I will
sing praises to Thee among the nations.
For Thy
steadfast love is great, is great to the heavens;
And Thy faithfulness, Thy faithfulness to the clouds.
Be
exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Thy
glory be over all the earth.
Be
exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Thy
glory be over all the earth.
“He
Is Lord” (Sing Twice)
He is Lord, He is Lord!
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord!
Every knee shall bow, every tongue
confess
that Jesus
Christ is Lord.

Offertory Song: “Let All Things Now Living”
Let all things now living a song of
thanksgiving
to God the
Creator triumphantly raise,
who fashioned and
made us, protected and stayed us,
who guides us and
leads to the end of our days.
His banners are o'er us,
his light goes before us,
a pillar of
fire shining forth in the night,
till shadows have
vanished and darkness is banished,
as forward we
travel from light into light.
His law he enforces; the stars in their
courses
and sun in its
orbit obediently shine;
the hills and the
mountains, the rivers and fountains,
the deeps of the
ocean proclaim him divine.
We too should be voicing our love and
rejoicing;
with glad
adoration a song let us raise,
till all things
now living unite in thanksgiving:
to God in the
highest, hosanna and praise!

*Song of
Preparation: “Be Thou
My Vision”
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all
else to me, save that Thou art-
Thou my best thought, by day or by
night,
Waking or sleeping,
Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and
Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,
Thou in me dwelling,
and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty
praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my treasure Thou
art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, bright heaven's
Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Scripture:
Colossians 3:1-14
Since,
then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where
Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When
Christ, who is your life, appears, then you
also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to
death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality,
impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because
of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to
walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But
now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage,
malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to
each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and
have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of
its Creator. 11 Here there is no
Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free,
but Christ is all, and is in all.
12 Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive
whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord
forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues
put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

*Hymn
Response: “Lord, I
Want to Be a Christian”
Lord, I want to be a Christian
In my heart, in my heart.
Lord, I want to be a Christian in my heart.
In my heart, in my heart,
Lord, I want to be a Christian in my heart.
Lord, I want to be more loving
In my heart, in my heart.
Lord, I want to be more loving in my heart.
In my heart, in my heart,
Lord, I want to be more loving in my heart.
*Benediction
*Doxology: “Lord, I Want to Be a Christian”
Lord, I want to be more holy
In my heart, in my heart.
Lord, I want to be more holy in my heart.
In my heart, in my heart,
Lord, I want to be more holy in my heart.
Lord, I want to be like Jesus
In my heart, in my heart.
Lord, I want to be like Jesus in my heart.
In my heart, in my heart,
Lord, I want to be like Jesus in my heart.
